 Split Apple Rock

This interesting rock formation is located off the coast between Marahau and Kaiteriteri. Split Apple Rock, by no surprise, is named after what it looks like. An apple split in half! Enjoy a stroll along the beach and capture a fun shot with this epic looking granite rock!

 Lake Quill

Now, this hidden treasure is on the more pricier side to get to. You’ll need to book a helicopter ride to get a view of this spectacular lake unless you feel like going on a 4-day hike! This beautiful lake resides in the gorgeous Fiordland National Park. The water from Lake Quill flows down the hillside as a waterfall known as Sutherland Falls and is the second tallest waterfall in New Zealand.

 Kerosene Creek, Rotorua

Who doesn’t love a good hot pool?! Dreamy all year round, especially on those chilly winter days, there’s nothing like warming up in some natural hot pools. These particular hot pools are located at Kerosene Creek in Rotorua and are a divine mix of a freshwater stream meeting a hot spring! Count me in!

 Haast Pass, Blue Pools

Here’s another dreamy water spot. Take an easy 1 hour round trip walk to this epic spot located along a walking track in Haast Pass. We think this would be an amazing walk to do in Summer because at the end you get to enjoy a moment of tranquillity while taking a refreshing swim in this crystal clear blue lake. Make sure you walk over the swinging bridge for some stellar views down the gorge.

 Waikawau Beach Tunnel

This sweet tunnel has a fun history to it. It was created by 3 men using picks and spades to dig the tunnel and was completed in 1911. It was originally used to transport cows as driving them along the beach was an easier job than transporting them through the rough terrain of the hills. Nowadays people can use this tunnel to access the beach. We think it’s a pretty fun way to access the beach.

We hope you have fun exploring these beautiful hidden treasures of New Zealand! We'll be back with Part 2!
