Explore Martinborough

Full of colonial charm, Martinborough is home to over 30 wineries, most are within walking distance of the sweet and character filled village square which is laid out in a Union Jack pattern.

Take a stroll around the village and enjoy viewing the town's heritage buildings before heading off to explore the quaint boutique stores, cafes and restaurants. Make sure you stop by Martinborough Wine Merchants, where you can taste the many wines from the region's wineries.

Find yourself a wine map and enjoy a self-guided walk or maybe even more fun-cycle, around the beautiful family owned vineyards and discover some of Martinborough best wines! A must don on the list is a visit to Olivo Olive Grove and take a stroll amongst the region's oldest olive trees.

Charming Greytown

Greytown is a quaint Victorian country village with metropolitan style. it was New Zealand's first planned inland town but in recent years has transformed into a sophisticated village with a gorgeous shopping strip with plenty of yummy eateries, which includes an eclectic mix of small boutiques, art galleries and antique stores.

If you want to get out and explore a bit, then go and hire tandem bikes to explore the picturesque nearby countryside. If you’re interested in some history, there are many fine examples of historic architecture. So make sure to visit the Cobblestones and Wairarapa's Early Settlers Museum,

Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre

At Pukaha Mount Bruce you’ll be able to find some of New Zealand's endangered species being kept safe to breed and be returned to the wild. It is also home to New Zealand's two rare white kiwi - Manukura and Mauriora - who have become the faces of the conservation, research and education programme at Pukaha Mount Bruce.  

See Manukura, one of two rare white kiwi, in her kiwi house. Encounter the wild kaka as they swoop down through the forest for their 3pm daily feed. Spot the little kiwi poking through the leafy grounds in the nocturnal house. You’ll find many rare native birds - such as the kokako, stitchbirds, takahe, kakariki and black teal can also be seen in their leafy realm.

To finish it off make sure you take one of the many short walks through the forest , where you’ll discover giant rimu, rata, kahikatea and tawa trees!

Castlepoint!

Holidays at the wild beach of Castlepoint are part of the Wairarapa local culture.

Grab your camera, your friends and family and enjoy this beautiful spot. It’s known for some stunning sunset watching while enjoying a dinner picnic on the beach.

Take a walk to Castlepoint Lighthouse, which was one of the last manned lighthouses to be built in New Zealand.

Did you know that Castlepoint Reserve is home to one of the rarest daisies in the world? It’s known as the Castlepoint Daisy, otherwise known as Brachyglottis compactus.

Explore the fossil-rich limestone reef. While the waters off the beach are often destination to New Zealand fur seals as well as several species of dolphin. Occasionally  you might be able to spot some small whales!

Explore Cape Palliser

Cape Palliser is the most southern point of the North Island. You’ll want to make sure you make a day of it. Pack a picnic & grab your camera and enjoy every minute of your time here. Take a leisurely walk through the forest to the Putangirua Pinnacles Scenic Reserve and see some crazy looking rock formations.

Visit the commercial fishing village of Ngawi, where you’ll spot tractors lining the beach. If you’re up for a bit of cardio then climb the 250 steps up to the Cape Palliser Lighthouse! It my be a mission but it’ll be worth it once you reach the top. There is a stunning rich history of early Maori occupation which is still evident in the landscape.
