   Waiohika Estate, Gisborne, NZ.

Rhythm and Vines is a 3 day long music festival which involves both local New Zealand bands as well as international musicians. Running annually from 29-31st December since 2003. This is the first festival in the world to welcome the first sunrise of the New Year, which is a pretty epic addition to an amazing music festival.

Rhythm and Vines festival was founded by three University of Otago friends who wanted to create an event for them and their friends to see in the New Year. Thus, Rhythm and Vines was founded.

This year, they have a pretty amazing lineup, including (but not limited to): Schoolboy Q, Theia, Ria Hall, P-Money, A-Trak, Boombox Cartel & Mura Masa.

This year with 18 destinations throughout the North Island on the A Low Hum tour, you have your pick as to which date and location you want to enjoy this amazing festival!

A Low Hum is an ongoing project, which was founded by photographer and music impresario Blink aka  Ian Jorgensen. He is based in Wellington, New Zealand and under the umbrella A LOW HUM, Blink organises a variety of tours, releases records, makes music videos, organises one-off events/festivals and publishes magazines and books.

As of 2009, A Low Hum has organised and supported tours for over seventy musical acts from around the globe, including New Zealand. Neil and Liam Finn, along with Sharon and Elroy Finn, with the likes of Connan Mockasin, champion whistler Molly Lewis, John Carroll Kirby, Jimmy Metherell and songbird Eliza-Jane Barnes, will play for multiple small towns and a few bigger cities in their A Low Hum tour.

In my opinion, this is one you don’t want to miss!

4.Northern Bass 29-31 December 2017

Northern Bass is an epic three day New Year celebration! Situated in the summer hotspot of Mangawhai, just over an hour north of Auckland. Northern Bass brings together an incredible selection of musicians, DJs and producers to provide the perfect soundtrack for bringing in your New Year.

With a campground on site, you can stay within the grounds of the festival so you don’t miss out on any of the action (if camping on site, make sure to get yourself a camping pass).
